Photography DIY Clamshell Reflector

Step Eight

DIY clamshell reflectorAll you need to do is use this U-shaped reflector as the bottom half of your over/under (clamshell) lighting setup. Attaching a length of cord in the one remaining grommet hole (in the center) allows you to tie it to your primary light stand or tripod to stabilize the angle.

The cool thing about the single-piece reflector is that it creates a smooth curve and it’s easier to build. The trifold version is easier to store and travel with. Because you made them both, you always have options.

Oh, and don’t forget to try out the white side for a softer look if the silver side bounces too much light.
