Photography DIY Clamshell Reflector

Step Four

becker_diy_reflector_08With the Mylar side of the three squares facing up, line them up side by side with about 1/2″ space between the pieces. Then, with two 2′ long pieces of silver duct tape, cover the gaps. You need to keep the squares separate because you’re creating a hinge and you need a little space for the hinge to work. If the gap is less than 1/2″, the hinge won’t fold freely.

Step Five

Now flip your reflector face down and, using two 2′ lengths of white duct tape, cover the back side of each gap to complete the hinges. If you want a more finished, professional-looking project, tape around the entire edge of the reassembled rectangle using duct tape in your choice of color.
