Adding fill light with one light would result in a great shot. I could fill in shadows and freeze the spraying water with my flash. But this situation offered a unique lighting opportunity. There was a bridge just downstream of the kayaker, about 50′ away. This bridge was close enough I could use a second Free Lite S Head and Ranger pack to add some rim light to the back of the kayaker. I used a sports reflector on this head to project the light further into the scene, and set the pack at full power. Even using a shutter speed of 1/6400 I had enough light to hit the back of the kayaker. The opposing lights created a cross-lighting scenario for
the shot.
