DIY Photography with Larry Becker: Light Stand Wheels

Step Four

Next, you need to attach three castors to your boomerang shape. Any hardware store, even Walmart, carries a variety, but you need to choose wheels that work best for you; for example, you might prefer wheels with locks or larger diameter wheels. (Tip: I’d advise against ball-shaped castors like those on some furniture.) Attach your castors as close to the tip of each leg as possible for maximum stability.

You may want to shoot a little black spray paint on your wheeled contraption to match your studio gear. It’s not really a big deal, but raw plywood is just a little too unprofessional looking for most of us.
