portrait tutorials colored backgroundFor the main light, I chose a 16″ beauty dish because it has more defined shadows. I added barn doors to keep any light from spilling onto the background, which helps feather the light on the subject. (Feathering means aiming the light past the center of the subject.) Note: When using the beauty dish with barn doors, you need to be very accurate with the position of your light!
