Fantastic. It’s really no big deal with ACTIONS, but little reminders are very useful. Cheers :)

I followed this tutorial word for word, and it caused PS CS4 to stop working. I now get this message whenever I try to start PS:

    Runtime Error!

    Program: C:\Pro…

    R6025
    - pure virtual function call

So, not only can I not use the script in the tutorial, I can’t even use PS. Thanks a lot.

Excellent. Works well. I also have an action which runs on Open Document to duplicate background layer. All these little tips help smooth processes. Thanks Dave – you are the king of handy tips for me. B est wishes, Robert

I tried on Windows XP Platform with CS4 Extended and it gives me an error too. Saying to Select menu item with the mouse. So something is not right for Windows machines perhaps?

  9. Gary Spedding (Reply) on Friday September 18, 2009

I think I figured it out and got the Action made but the Scripting does not seem to allow me to actually fit the image to the window – so still some issues somewhere on this one.

Does work in Mac PS CS4.

Layers magazine editorial staff has tested this tutorial a couple of times, on different machines, and we have not encountered any problems with creating or running the action.

Please continue to give us feedback. We will monitor the comments to make sure this issue is not widespread.

    Thanks

When the auto fit is run for vertical images from my D300 it is blurry. Its sharp if I zoom in or out, but not when it is an auto fit. Any ideas? Thanks. Love the tutorial otherwise.

I have been searching on and off for this solution for ever. I even took your tip one step further and I have it open the in full screen view as well. Thanks so much you saved me a lot of time or should I say my sanity. :)

Thanks a lot for the tip, but it didn’t work for me (CS4 on Win 7 64bit). When I activate it, the image still opens smaller than the screen, as it did before. Worse, if I right click with the loupe (zoom tool) and choose “fit on screen”, nothing changes. Same if I click “CTRL + 0″. In other words, the action seems to mess up with the size that PS defines as “fit on screen”. Once I disable the action, “fit on screen” goes back to normal.
