Sometimes when you copy objects from one document into another document, you can end up with duplicate Swatches in your Swatches palette. Some may be Spot Colors and other CMYK versions of those Spot Colors. To clean up this duplication problem, you need to Merge the Swatches. First find the Swatch that you would actually like to use in the layout and click on it. Then Command-Click (Control-Click on a PC) on the Swatches that you want to Merge into that first Swatch. Go to the Options menu of the Swatches palette and select “Merge Swatches” from the popup menu. The first Swatch you clicked will remain in the Swatches palette with the others merged into it.
