Classic car photo shoot Tom Bols

I grabbed another Ranger with an A head and placed the head under the car aiming forward. One thing I’ve learned over the years is to always stay open to my lighting intuition. If something seems like a good idea, go ahead and try it. The worst that can happen is you don’t like the effect and you take it away.

The Chrysler seemed to take on more life with the strobe raking light across the ground. One thing I quickly noticed was if I shot close to the ground, the strobe was fully visible in the image and flare showed up in the top of the shot. Not a terrible thing, but not the look I wanted. I raised my shooting angle to block the light from my view. The shot was looking great, but by now the sun had set and the white brick garage in the background was lifeless.
