Vertus launches Fluid Mask Windows version

Vertus has today announced the launch of the Windows version of its ground-breaking Photoshop plug-in tool, Fluid Mask, aimed at professional designers and design agencies. This follows the highly successful launch three months ago of the widely acclaimed Macintosh version of the masking and cut-out software. Fluid Mask is particularly suited to high resolution professional images and cut-outs are achievable incredibly quickly whether for use in print, packaging, the web, exhibitions, display graphics or in presentations. Fluid Mask opens up new opportunities for design professionals wanting to separate objects from highly detailed images when high quality results are required.  Complex lattices, such as foliage or hair, can be achieved quickly and with a high degree of accuracy. Vertus’ Fluid Mask is a tool that takes image masking and cutting-out to new levels and allows the user to accurately and quickly cut out objects from images. It is based around breakthrough technology which is similar to the way the eye, optic nerve and brain perform visual processing. When an image is loaded, Fluid Mask’s engine analyses the distribution of colors, finding the natural groups according to the content of the image. Together with information calculated about edges, gradients and texture a model is constructed which divides the images into regions. The initial processing of the image provides data which is used as a management layer, called the Image Information Layer (IIL). Fluid Mask is unique in the way it creates and works on this image information layer, making the process of masking and cutting out images faster and more accurate. The tool is aimed at designers who regularly cut-out images. Whether removing a single complex image from its background or creating multiple product shots, Vertus’ software is designed to deliver better results and save time. Fluid Mask’s intelligent mask paint tools enable objects to be cut out quickly and easily. Often a single brush stroke is all that’s required to identify an object’s edges. There is no need for manual blending and chipping tools as Fluid Mask automatically detects color transitions between shapes and naturally blends their edges. Progress can be checked as you work with the unique and intuitive Test Render function. The Regional Editor and Color Palette provide total color/pixel control over the most complex cut-outs allowing the user to work at levels of detail that were previously not available. Both the Windows and Mac versions of the products will be priced at £179 ($249) which will see a reduction in the price of the Mac version currently priced at £299. Fluid Mask for Windows will be available from as a download at www.vertustech.com and through distributors. Fluid Mask is compatible with Windows 2000, NT and XP.
