Portrait Lighting: Taming the Sunlight

In the photo on the bottom, you can see the shadow from the Scrim Jim on the ground. The trick to hiding the equipment that you’re using is to shoot at the lowest angle possible, as shown on the right.

My favorite month to shoot outside is January because the sun is never too high in the sky. But, remember to shoot fast, as the earth is constantly moving and the sun will keep repositioning itself. Good luck and happy shooting!
