Photography DIY: Diffusion Domes

[tps_header]Although I regularly see Tupperware-like, frosted-plastic diffusion domes mounted on external flashes, mine didn’t come with any, so I started shopping around. While the typical $16–22 price isn’t unreasonable in terms of photography gear, I decided to design a collapsible flash-diffusion dome that fits flat right inside my flash travel case. You’ll need to use a Velcro speed strap of some kind with my version of the diffusion dome. Just follow these steps to build a dome of your own:

Step One

First, stop by your local FedEx Office store and buy a couple of frosted report covers. At different locations I’ve been charged $0.50 or $0.75 each—a great price.
