NetXposure Announces First DAM Solution Built for Apollo
NetXposure announced NetXposure version 5, the first digital asset management (DAM) solution to be built using Apollo — the code name for a cross-operating system application engine from Adobe® that allows developers to extend rich Internet applications (RIAs) to the desktop — and Adobe Flex™ software, a developer framework for building cross-operating system RIAs for the web. NetXposure 5 delivers an enterprise-class solution that combines the rich user experience of web-based applications with the features and functionality of traditional desktop applications. Marked as the most significant product release in the company’s history, NetXposure 5 seamlessly links desktop creative applications including Adobe Creative Suite® 3 applications with digital media content that resides in NetXposure’s web-based repository.
NetXposure 5, the industry’s first DAM solution built using Adobe Flex and Apollo, will be demonstrated at the Henry Stewart DAM Symposium on June 6-7, 2007 at the Javits Center in New York. NetXposure 5 will be available this summer.
NetXposure also announced today a free plug-in that delivers full integration with Adobe Creative Suite 3, enabling users to access the NetXposure DAM repository from within CS3 point applications via Adobe Bridge and Version Cue. This gives users the ability to browse, search, open files, import, check in / check out, delete, create / save versions and view metadata without ever leaving the Adobe applications. The result is a more controlled creative process with streamlined production.
“NetXposure is revolutionizing the DAM category with this version, harnessing the power of the desktop while delivering the connectivity of the Internet to link media assets to creative workflow,” said Pam Deziel, director of product marketing at Adobe. “NetXposure 5 is a great example of the innovative use of Apollo and Adobe Flex to create powerful applications with compelling user experiences.”
Utilizing Apollo technology from Adobe, NetXposure 5 delivers an intuitive user interface with offline capabilities. This means users can interact with media files stored within NetXposure’s DAM repository via a web browser or through Adobe Bridge and Version Cue. In addition, a new RIA interface powered by Adobe Flex gives NetXposure 5 a high performance, efficiently-expressive user experience that works in real time. For example, users can drag and drop media files from their desktop directly into NetXposure 5.
“Adobe is the leader in an emerging arena of web-enabled desktop applications,” said Jason Wehling, vice president of Technology at NetXposure. “It made perfect sense for us to build NetXposure 5 on Apollo and Flex to deliver new and engaging experiences with which our customers can manage and extend the value of their media assets.”
