Just Announced: The Canon 5DS and 5DS R

Canon has just announced the Canon EOS 5DS and the EOS 5DS R two brand new cameras that are sure to be eye openers in the DSLR space.

The EOS 5DS and 5DS R are two DSLR cameras sporting a huge 50.6 effective megapixel CMOS sensor – which should provide some great detail for photographers looking to get sharper pictures. Crop as you see fit here.- there's plenty of room to spare.

The cameras both shoot at 5FPS, capture full HD 30P video, and can merge pictures taken at specific intervals into a full HD movie using its Time Lapse capability.

They feature 1.3 and 1.6x crop shooting, an anti flicker feature mode to help compensate for flickering light sources and provide a more accurate color and exposure.

Both cameras sport a 3.2 inch ClearView II LCD monitor with a 170° viewing angle, 1,040,000-dot VGA, reflection resistance with multi coating and high-transparency materials for bright and clear viewing.

The 5DS and 5DS R both have an advanced mirror control mechanism and user selectable shutter release time to help minimize camera shake.

Both cameras contain a built in intevalometer, 61 point High Density Reticular AF with 41 cross-type AF points and EOS iTR for high precision focus, and support for USB 3.0 among other features.

The one difference that you'll see with the 5DS and the 5DS R is that the 5DS R omits the Low Pass Filter – letting you really take advantage of the detail you can get out of 50.6 megapixels.
