Does a Document Have to Start on Page 1?

No! Sometimes you want to start your Auto Page Numbering (Type > Insert Special Character > Auto Page Numbering) on some other page. For instance, maybe you’re working on the Sports Section of a newspaper and the front page of the section needs to be 27, not 1. How can you accomplish this?

Double-click on page 1 in the Pages palette and under the Options flyout menu, select “Numbering & Sections.” In the dialog that opens, select “Start Page Numbering at”, type in 27 and click OK. This will change your Auto Page Numbering to start the Section at page 27 and will also list the page this way in the Pages palette with the next page as 28.
