Canon Realis SX6
Show off your images and videos in high quality
Canon’s REALiS SX6 Multimedia Projector delivers quality whether displaying a PowerPoint presentation or using it for a home theater. It’s based on a technology called LCOS (liquid crystal on silicon), and combined with Canon’s new proprietary AISYS high-intensity light engine, it produces a brilliant 3,500 lumens. It weighs 10.4 lbs and can project anything that generates a video signal from a TV (HDTV compatible), DVD player, digital camera, laptop, etc. It has input ports for composite video, component video, S-Video, DVI, and analog VGA connectors. Its sharp 1.7x zoom lens focuses from 3.9–29.2′ creating a diagonal image size of 40–300″. It has a SXGA+ resolution of 1400×1050.
The digital quality is stunning: sharp text, brilliant uniform light, no visible pixels, smooth saturated colors, and with a contrast ratio of 1000:1, excellent highlights and shadow detail. The image projected is bright even from a distance with significant ambient room light. If you’re a graphic artist or professional photographer, you’ll appreciate the standard sRGB or Adobe RGB color modes and advance color adjustment function for critical accurate color reproduction.
The projector comes with a padded case, wireless illuminated remote, connector cables, and a well-written manual. The wireless remote can be pointed at infrared sensors located on the front and rear of the unit. An auto setup feature automatically adjusts focus, keystone distortion, and detects the correct input signal. The SX6’s full-featured menu set is logically organized and easy to navigate and operate. At 31 decibels (in Quiet mode) the SX6 operates quietly so cinema fans can watch movies without distraction. The SX6 performed without a single problem.—Steve Baczewski
