Scott Kelby to Receive International Photography Award
Scott Kelby will be presented The Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum International Photography Award (HIPA) in Dubai on March 16th.
The special award given to Mr. Kelby is the Photographic Research/Report award which celebrates research that reflects excellence in the field of photography. Scott Kelby is the author of numerous books on photography, Photoshop and Lightroom including the popular Digital Photography Book series which has been translated into several languages.
The special award comes as part of HIPA’s Photography contest with this year’s theme being “Life in Colour”. With a grand prize of $120,000 and prizes totaling $400,000.
An additional special Appreciation Award is going to famed Brazilian photographer Sebastiao Salgado. Mr. Salgado has been a professional photographer since 1973 where he worked in Paris with a number of photo agencies.

Mr. Salgado and Mr. Kelby are in esteemed company as 500px.com is reporting: “Last year, the Photography Appreciation Award went to iconic Nat Geo photographer Steve McCurry, while the Photographic Research/Report Award went to Lytro chairman Ren Ng.”
Commenting on the announcement of the recipients of the special categories, the Secretary General of HIPA, His Excellency Ali bin Thalith said “We are delighted to have Sebastião Salgado and Scott Kelby, two of the photography world’s real heavyweights, as the special awards recipients for this season’s Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum International Photography Award. These two gentlemen have achieved countless milestones throughout their respective careers and we are delighted to be recognising them on behalf of HIPA, at our 4th Awards Ceremony on the 16th of March.”
All winners of the fourth season of the Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum International Photography Award (HIPA) are set to be announced at the 4th annual awards ceremony under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Crown Prince of Dubai on the 16th of March 2015 at the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC).
