Adobe and Symantec Team to Protect Consumers Online

Adobe Systems Incorporated (Nasdaq:ADBE) today announced a partnership with Symantec Corp. (Nasdaq: SYMC) to simplify the accessibility of tools to increase PC safety and security for Internet users. Initially, the two companies will offer a complimentary trial and the option of special pricing for the Norton Internet Security 2006 suite to users who are downloading the latest version of Adobe® Reader®. Adobe and Symantec are working together to offer quick, easy and cost-efficient ways for a broad base of consumers to protect their PCs from viruses, worms and other Internet security threats leveraging the broad reach of Norton®, the Internet’s leading security brand, and Adobe Reader software, which — together with Adobe’s Macromedia® Flash® Player — is installed on 600 million connected PCs and devices worldwide. "Adobe’s trusted PDF document format and Symantec’s strong track record of security and protection remove barriers to consumers getting the most out of using the Internet," said Kurt Garbe, vice president of Platform, Adobe Systems. "This joint effort is the first step in a growing relationship with Symantec. Combining Adobe’s broad reach with Symantec’s award-winning PC security software will help make the Internet a safer place for people to access and engage with the information and services they need." Both companies have worked to establish new standards in security. Adobe has set the bar for delivering protected digital documents and experiences while Symantec has pioneered solutions to deliver Internet and data security capabilities that work seamlessly to protect customers’ computers from virus outbreaks and malicious hacker attacks. "Symantec estimates that 30-40% of all connected consumer systems are not adequately protected," said Enrique Salem, senior vice president, consumer products and solutions, Symantec. "Our relationship with Adobe offers the broadest possible group of consumers a new avenue to protect their PCs online in a quick, cost-effective way." Norton Internet Security 2006 gives consumers the confidence to travel the Internet, protected from viruses, hackers, spyware and spam. Norton Internet Security 2006 includes Norton AntiVirus™ with integrated spyware protection, Norton Personal Firewall, Norton AntiSpam™ and Norton™ Parental Control.
