Step Two

To give us a starting point, I took this shot with one of my go-to modifiers, a 28″ Apollo softbox. This modifier serves to enlarge our light source and, at the same time, diffuse the light a great deal, producing a soft, even light output. I probably could have walked away with this shot and been happy. It’s technically spot on, with a perfectly balanced histogram to prove it. But the goal is to push the image a little farther, while still flattering the model and delivering a more dynamic final result.
