layers_mayjune2Win Cool Prizes and Be in This Magazine
You know.. one of the things that I think a lot of people lose sight of is the fact that as wonderful as this website is (and not because of yours truly), the website is a companion to some really cool things that happen at Layers Magazine. I’m sitting here and going through the magazine, and was thinking to myself “Man, this is a really good cover. The artist Drazenka Kimpel really has some amazing stuff, and her being selected as the Designer Spotlight, she gets to have her artwork throughout the magazine. That’s definitely something to hang your hat on.

The Digital Canvas
That made me think – for every amazing artist (and yes.. Drazenka is totally one of them), I bet there are tons out there that are just as awesome. How do we get to see all of -your- talent? Well.. did you guys know that there is a special section on Layers Magazine that is dedicated to showing all of your awesome work? It’s called The Digital Canvas and it’s a place used to showcase great design talent that’s out there. If you are getting into the design biz, its a great way to get “Published in an International Design Magazine” on that resume. If you’re a pro, its a great way to show off your work and inspire the next crop of designers. I’d love to see what you guys are doing out there in the next issue. To submit, send samples and contact information to our Editor Chris Main (Cmain -at- Layersmagazine.com). Hey.. you never know.

The Layers Back Page Design Contest
Another thing that I think -everyone- should be trying for is the Layers Back Page Design Contest. The concept is pretty simple: You go to the Contest webpage, and check out The Mission (This time around you design an ad. I’m not going to give it away.. you’re going to have to check out that page). What’s awesome about this contest is that the prize is a Wacom Intuos4 tablet as well as a copy of Corel Painter 11. That’s a crazy amount of goodies.. for you to get inspired. Make sure you get in it to win it by checking out that page as soon as you can!!
