Update to my own question: I had originally applied a rule to visited links because all of this formatting was disappearing for those once clicked (I thought I was so smart..) but when I take that rule off, my the rollover effect comes back for visited links. So I guess my question really has to do with keeping the formatting for visited links while still retaining rollover effects. I hope this makes sense!

Thanks so much! I'm new to this, and I have a question: I applied all of these rules, tested it out in a browser and everything works fine with one exception--after I click a link in my unordered list and navigate back to the original page, the link no longer has the rollover effect. Is there another CSS rule I need to apply to already clicked links to retain the rollover effect?

crazy confusing -- followed it to a tee (on a Mac/CS4), but when I viewed in Safari, none of the hover/roll-over colors worked. A video would be great.

Useful tutorial. I did find my copy of DW CS4 made some of the steps difficult to follow though. For example: Step 4 - DW does not offer 'ul a' as a menu option, only 'li ul a'. I could have entered it myself but I didn't and I think this affected how some of the later CSS rules worked. Likewise, DW refused to update the 'inline' option in the dialogue boxes until I hand-coded it.
