(Red Herring) Movie studios previewed the first Blu-ray and HD-DVD high-definition discs Wednesday in conjunction with the International Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas this week. Among the Blu-Ray proponents were Sony Pictures Home Entertainment, Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment, and Lionsgate, while Paramount Pictures Home Entertainment promoted its HD-DVD titles. Sony is readying 20 titles for 50-gigabyte, dual-layer Blu-ray discs, including House of Flying Daggers, Hitch, Black Hawk Down, The Bridge on the River Kwai, The Last Waltz, Desperado, Bram Stoker’s Dracula, For a Few Dollars More, Sense and Sensibility, Legends of the Fall, and Kung Fu Hustle.
