If you haven’t noticed, we just finished launching a new redesign of the magazine, starting with this month’s issue. I’m very excited because I get to talk to you about Soundbooth and Audition CS3 – what can I say, I’m a sound guy at heart. Anyway, the redesign focuses on highlighting a specific artist throughout the magazine, and this month, it was the super-artist Matt Haley. Matt’s the guy responsible for the creation of the graphics in both seasons of Stan Lee’s “Who Wants to Be a Superhero” on SciFi Channel. If you look at the mag, you’ll notice his artwork is spread throughout the piece, and it does add a bit of flair, if I may say so.

How cool was it then when I found out that we can give you guys a web Q&A session with Matt! Check out the link here to get a cool background on his work and his workflow. A cool read.

This week on Layers TV I’m going to expand a little bit on Corey’s animation in Flash by creating a Flash file that loads external SWF files. I’ve been reading the comments that have been coming into the sites and one of the things that you’ve written back about is the use of Flash and how to take it a little past a regular animation. Check it out on Layers TV, and let me know what you think.

A final note – make sure that when you visit and check out the posts; click on Matt Kloskowski’s Photoshop Killer Tips podcast on the bar to the right. I love it because it’s quick and gives you a pretty cool dose of Photoshop goodness. If you have the extra time, click on the tips directly under the player.. for just a couple of minutes more, you could be that much smarter.. :)

    I would like to see the following be implemented soon;

    New Podcasts:
    Illustrator Killer Tips – with either Matt K or Corey Barker

    Photoshop Illustration Podcast – similar to the idea of killer tips, once a week in general and about 5-10 minutes with Corey showing off a new cool special Illustration from scratch done in Photoshop and sometimes on occasion to do it in Illustrator, that will be an amazing Podcast too.

    Books -

    Illustrator Down & Dirty Tricks book

    Illustrator for Digital Designers book
    Photoshop for Digital Designers book
    both of these should have the format of Photoshop for Digital Photographers and cover Illustrator and the other cover the design aspects of Photoshop.

    I hope to see these titles soon.
