wacom tablet and nikon d300

It’s a great Monday everyone:

Wacom just announced the release of a new Cintiq tablet – the 12WX. The 12WX is pretty much the same thing as a Cintiq tablet in that it is a screen that you can use a pen on, but the cool part about it is that it’s small, and can work in tandem with your monitor. This according to Wacom:

Wacom Technology Corp. announced today the Cintiq 12WX, a new addition to the Cintiq family that combines all the advantages and power of direct pen-on-screen input with a new low-profile, lightweight and flexible design. The new Cintiq 12WX is aimed at professional creators of digital content looking to improve and streamline their workflow. Storyboarding for 2D or 3D animations, compositing for post production, designing graphics, as well as retouching photos are just a few of the many creative applications where the Cintiq excels.

For more information on this really cool device, check out the Wacom site.

I just got my D300 over the weekend, and I have to say, I am loving it. I haven’t had enough time to put it through its paces yet, but thank goodness Terry White has a pretty good review of it on his Tech Blog. Click on this link to check it out.

How does the cintiq control the second monitor in a dual monitor setup?

    Hey Stephen:

Just got to talk to our Wacom Guru Corey. The 12WX shows up as a dual monitor when you set it up, and you can ‘bounce’ from one monitor to the next by clicking on a configured expresskey on the Cintiq.

Corey’s going to be doing a review of the tablet/monitor on tomorrow’s show, so be sure to check it out. Thanks for stopping by!

Where’s the D3 review? The camera in the image is the D300 as is the review on Terry’s site.

    Hey Gary:

So sorry about that! In my haste I wound up omitting the 00 in 300, and left it as a D3. I’ve adjust the post now.

However, If you’re looking to get some feedback on how the D3 is panning out, let me get you a couple of places for you to check out.

Nikon has a good overview and movies of it here: http://www.nikondigitutor.com/eng/d3/index.shtml

Moose Peterson has got a great site going with the D3 stuff. Check him out here; http://www.moosepeterson.com/D3/

Finally, theres the D3 site over at DPReview that will give you a great dose of the camera – http://www.dpreview.com/previews/nikond3/

Let me know if those help.. and thanks for stopping in..

Thanks for the response RC but I’m still not sure I understand. Maybe the dual monitors can be shown on the show.

When I bounce to the second monitor, does the cintiq screen turn off and become a regular intuos tablet to control the second monitor?

I’ve watched the review on the latest episode. Lets say that Corey kept his Macbook opened and used that screen as a second display.

One more question before I buy. Does the Intuos3 pens work on the Cintiq or are they different? I do not like the grip pen and prefer the classic without the rubber.

    Hey Stephen:

    Yes it does..
