Yeah, I knew that last one would get your attention.
Over the last couple of weeks, I’ve done two things to keep me busy while on tour. First – I wanted to spend some time working on HDR photography while on the road. I find that giving myself a project and working at it for a while let’s me really explore the nuances of a technique better.. and I figured since I was running around with my tripod, that was a good a time as any. I dont perscribe to the notion that one vein of photography is a fad, or good, or bad. It’s a technique. Just like anything else that we do creatively – we go out there and we play with something different in the event that we can use that technique later on in an project. There’s not that much I wouldn’t try, really.. and that venturing is a good thing.
The other thing I focused on is organizing my list of places I like to visit for inspiration, tricks, techniques, and resources. I figured over the next couple of weeks I’d share some places that I think you should go to get some cool information.. maybe turn you on to some new folks you may not be checking out.
Check out Doug Winnie and Colin Mook for Actionscript 3 Stuff!
When working on Flash projects there are two very distinct camps – designers and coders. Rather than get into the argument of why the schism exists.. I wanted to point you guys to places that I think will amp up your knowledge of Actionscript 3 – the language that makes Flash CS4 run.
The first one is Doug Winnies Actionscript 1:1 class on Adobe TV. Doug is a very clear, very concise instructor in in his lessons, he goes through some ideas behind the use of Actionscript and how it pertains to things you do in Flash. They are quick, fun, and pretty easy to follow.

Colin Moock’s Lost Actionscript 3.0
Colin Moock is considered to be one of the foremost authorities on Actionscript. His book “Essential ActionScript 3.0″ is considered one of the definitive references on the subject. Let’s face it though, some of us learn better through videos. To that end, Colin (with his friends James Patterson, and Hoss Gifford) created a fun, engaging way to get the basics of Object Oriented Programming and Actionscript 3. Definitely something to check out:

Matt Brandon’s Interview with Photographer Amy Vitale
Matt Brandon is a wonderful photographer based out of Malaysia and always his blog always serves as a great source of inspiration for me. Not only does the blog fill me inspirationally, but he is also the host of a podcast called The Digital Trekker: Depth of Field. Most recently, Matt interviewed famed photographer Ami Vitale. This is great website to keep on your short list:

Zack Arias’ Gift Of Encouragement Contest
Atlanta Photographer Zack Arias started a new contest on his blog that I think will resonate with people in this season of giving. There is one thing that I love about this contest.. let’s let him tell you about it:
“..Here is the thing
Its the holidays. Its the time to give and not receive. So you CAN NOT win this for yourself. You are going to win this for someone you know and give this package to them on (insert the big day of your holiday choice here.) Like
Christmas morning or something. Right? All inclusive we are around here.
”
