So today was the big Apple keynote, and from the looks of it, it doesn’t look like Steve Jobs disappointed too many people.

The biggest splash seems to be the new Mac Air Laptop. Overall, I think the laptop looks really, really cool, but there are a couple of things that put me off at initial glance: Small hard drives and 1 USB implementation. It’s weird: I remember back in August Samsung had announced that they came out with a 1.8 inch hard drive at about 160GB. The new Ipod Classic now runs at about 160GB – with the same 1.8″ hard drive. I don’t understand why they would debut the Air without a 160GB. I’m a big pack rat, so this would have been a good feature. The inclusion of just 1USB connection was a bit of a letdown too. I can kind of understand it however. You gotta figure Apple will most likely get behind the new USB 3.0 spec, so that could also explain out the Firewire. I think I’ll sit out for the first version of this guy, but amazing nonetheless.

Time Capsule seems to be a great feature for backup, and if you are using the newest Mac OS, you can use Time Machine to backup your Mac – way cool. What’s even better than that? You can sync more than one Mac, if you are using Leopard on the other machines. Multiple Leopard machines, one capsule – this is going to be a good one.

The Iphone got a couple of updates including the addition of maps, multiple SMS messages, and the ability to customize your home screen.

The update that I am very excited about is the inclusion of Mail, Notes, Maps, Weather, and Stocks to the Ipod Touch. The one that I am the most excited about is Mail. There are hotspots everywhere, and the ability to just take the Iphone out of your pocket, sync for mail, and go is an amazing feature.

Have a great Wednesday everyone!

I was most excited about the iPod touch enhancements. But I wasn’t excited about the pricetag. :\ Oh well, I downloaded the apps anyway. It adds much needed functionality to the iPod touch.

The new apps for the Touch is cool but the $20 is ridiculous. Not only should those apps have been included before (like they are now), the apps have been available for download from sites not endorsed by Apple. I have had mail on my iPod Touch since I bought it a couple weeks ago.

I find it weird that the the iPhone and Apple TV got fee software updates but anyone that bought the Touch needs to buy the now standard software.

Blah… I love my firewire hard drives!!! Keeps my PC using family out of my stuff!!!!

One USB port! What the??? What whirly-whirl product designer decided on that? So, that leaves us with one port for your non “mighty mouse (gag)” wireless mouse and … whoops no more slots to upload photos from my camera, plug in a flash-drive… dissapointed :( … Why is it that everytime I upgrade my mac I have to upgrade my Belkin collection as well — erg!
