OK, so I am going to make this a semi-silent post this week, compelling you guys to hear me rant on Layers TV. This week, I am talking about Graaavy – a component that you can pick up to do really cool things in Flash, with little fuss. I had talked about this component a little earlier in December, but after playing around with it, I thought it deserved a bit more of a mention on the show.

I was also thinking about it because of the things that I am working on in Flash. I think that one of the biggest things that people want to see on the Flash space are photo galleries. Everyone is looking for a really cool way to display their images – and more often than not, that means that they are going to turn to Flash to do them.

Now, I LOVE Flash, but I will be the first person to say that if you are not hip to scripting, you are not going to be able to do the really neat stuff that Flash is capable of doing. That, however, should not prevent you from going out there and finding a component that will help get your message across.

The way I see it – If I am an architect, and my job is to build a really cool house, it’s not really my job to learn how to make a 2×4 or a brick. If I am a cook, and I need to prepare great dishes, I don’t necessarily need to learn how to farm. My point here is that at the end of the day, there can be some tools that make your job easier – and using them is just fine. Graaavy fills that spot nicely.

With the time you save not stressing about how to learn how to get the project out of the door – you can actually sit, and comfortably learn how to do things in Actionscript.

You can see a dummy version of the site that I posted for the Layers TV show here:

Check out the show.. and let me know what you think.

I took advantage of your earlier post introducing Graaavy and bought it. I have since put a placeholder page up for my wife’s art business. I put this up until I can publish the full site!

    Thanks again for the intro!
