I had this plan to talk a little bit about file permissions, Britney Spears, or fortune telling, but while visiting Amazon.com, I saw something that made me very happy!
Joe McNally’s book – The Moment it Clicks is showing up in Stock!!
So.. now’s your chance. You can get out there and buy what a lot of people are calling one of the most meaningful photography books of 2008. Click on the More tab to see a cool video and pictures of Jenn on the beach.. leaping through the air!
It’s available at places like Amazon.com. One of the reasons that everyone (myself included) is falling in love with this book is because it is both photographically inspiring, and a great teaching tool. It’s also a great collection of Joe’s stories: After spending any time with Joe, you become immersed in what he is saying because he is a peron who is a master storyteller. That passion is the hook that gets you involved, educated, and inspired to take it to the next level.
The one thing that I think the book misses on is actually having Joe’s voice in there- but it’s a book.. so I can forgive that. Thank goodness, however, you have Youtube. Doing a search on Joe McNally brings you a video made with Nikon about the book, and a couple of choice stories.
Now, the other cool part of this – If you want to hear and see Joe as a teacher, you can take classes with him at Kelby Training. Below is the conclusion of one of Joe’s classes. I was able to assist Joe in Sand Key Beach while he shot my wife Jennifer. Pictures located below.
Have a wonderful weekend everyone. See you guys on Monday!

RC – avid reader of the blog and NAPP member; teacher of design & digital photo at an upstate NY high school…. We subscribe to Layers and PShop User, and I have a membership at the KT online site so I can use the tutorials with my kids.
I’m looking for suggestions for a top 10 (or 5 or 20…whatever) list of books/texts that I could purchase for use with my students, including topics related to design, typography, comm. & design theory, etc…. We have the non-designer’s typography book from Robin Williams and I have a bunch of Scott’s books, as well as an Indesign & Pshop killer tips or two…. I’m picking up Presentation Zen today (Scott suggested it on his blog), but I’m curious if you (or other blog readers) would take a moment and contribute a few other ideas…. Much obliged for the time; thanks in advance!
