Thanks for this review...I agree with your sentiments about a phone being used primarily for making calls! I haven't jumped on the iPhone bandwagon for the same reasons!

Thank you for the review. I just received my Motorola Cliq phone last week and am very pleased with the phone. It has definitely outdone my expectations. Even for being a smart phone illiterate, I was able to quickly pick up on the Android operating system and get right to work. My reason for switching was poor/no service from AT&T network. Now I have a better phone, better service and better plan from T-Mobile.

I heard a past interview on This week in Photography that brought me to your site. I agree with your approach that I use a phone to make calls - and that ATT service means lots of dropped calls. I lug my computer with me for computing and often wish it were smaller and lighter.

Your Fench quote is missing its verb to know - "savoir". Think of Savant - then it makes more sense in english "Je ne sais quoi." What - "quoi" is singular in French and English in this quote.

Many years back when one would discuss the best options for a personal computer, PC users would inevitably state, "there are more applications for for PC's than Macs". I never felt it was a sufficient argument, as there was a significant amount of apps that held no interest to me, and what was of interest, was also available for the Mac.
The scenario seems similar here with the plethora of apps available for the iPhone, I hear that fact being touted as a benefit of the iPhone. I feels the same way about the argument.
I neither have an iPhone, nor a Droid. In fact I don't have a smart phone, primarily because of the insane costs of U.S. phone companies. Although since I am an AT+T customer it is likely I will get an iPhone when I can con myself into justifying the costs.

I'm glad your review did not get caught up in the x vs. x as in many cases a decision is largely swayed by the network and the contract one is currently using. Any software or hardware should be able to stand alone on its own merits, without having to be declared a killer of another. Competition is great and we are the beneficiaries- roll on technology!

People will have a preference and should always have a choice. I wonder, now that Larry is so upset with Palm, what his opinion would be of the Droid.
