Hey everyone. Just got back from a great weekend and wanted to share a couple of things.
To keep readers up with the latest on Joe McNally photography, a new blog was released by the man himself. Click on this link and you will be taken to the blog site. Welcome aboard the internet, Joe!
This morning, I want to share with you a pitfall of working in Flash locally on your computer. Click on the More link to get you to the post.

I also wanted to share with you some Flash settings stuff. Recently, I was working on a Flash project that required me to access some files that were local on the computer. As soon as I clicked on the button to have Flash access it, I would get a security pop-up. I never really paid attention to it because I would upload the files and they would work without a problem. But how do you fix the problem locally on the computer?

If you click on the Settings button, you are taken to a website that shows you a picture of the security settings. The problem that I had (embarrassingly) was that I always thought the image was a picture of some setting that I should be able to locate on my Flash player. As it turns out, if you read the information closely, it tells you that this window is in fact the actual settings window.

If you click on the Add Location button, you can navigate to the SWF file and add that file to the allowable list to be accessed. If you refresh or close the browser and then re-open, you’ll notice that the file will now access all of the local resources without a problem. It wasn’t the brightest move on my part – but a great note and tip for all of you working on a Flash design. Have a great day everyone!
