Hanging out over at Rod’s DV Confidential page, I saw that he’s got a listing of the best cameras of 2007. I just got my first digital camera a couple of years ago and started working with importing stuff into the Mac, and then playing around with it in After Effects. Ever since, I have to say, it’s been one of those things that I just secretly love to work on. It’s like I get to be a mini, iddy bitty, indie filmmaker. Since then, the cameras I’m around have gotten bigger, and my own camera has been lost (stolen!), which means I haven’t had a chance to sit in the Director’s chair. But I tell you, if you want something cool, pick up something like a Canon HV20, then After Effects and Premiere, and I will guarantee you will get hooked. I’m curious as to how many of you do this..
I was watching a taping of Photoshop User TV, and Dave Cross had a cool graphic on the back of his laptop. I found out that those things are called Gelaskins – and they rock! I am so thinking about getting one. The only thing is that the ones that I really love may not be the best to constantly have on the back of my computer when doing Layers TV – like the Touched (With the flying Spaghetti Monster!!) or The Provocateurs.
This is why I love blogging – here I was, just checking out the Gelaskin site, and then all of a sudden I developed an art crush on Kathie Olivas. She’s a Tampa-based artist (I begrudgingly call her a neighbor, as I’m living in Tampa but still clinging to being a New Yorker). She’s got some really cool paintings, sculptures, prints, and other assorted cool stuff. It’s got that Tim Burton-esque feel.. and I absolutely love it! Make sure you go check her out!
There you have it.. have a great weekend everyone.. see you on Monday!
