Do you have any specific tutorials that show how to do a hammered copper effect on an object?

Ok, wonderful tutorial, all seems amazing. Then I try.. I have made the square, done the gradient, I click Effect > Texture and all the options, including grain, is grey and I can't click any of them.. ._. I am running Mac OS X Leopard and illustrator CS. I know the age, but it's what I have to work with. So.. Help... Please... I can't for the life of me find the fix to this and I have looked far and wide. Odds are it's a simple option that needs to be checked and it will all work wonderfully. Do 'ya think I can FIND that option? Hmh. So, anyone have an idea..? Thanks.

The effect seems to be cool, but I can see that the edge of curves, especially on text
looks a bit dodgy..

am I doing something wrong?? or its just a screen bug

I couldn't save my metallic swatch to the Graphics Styles panel. It didn't work like you laid out. Anyone have any problems doing that? I'd love to save it to be able to use on other objects and text but can't get it to work properly. I also didn't find the other colors such as copper, bronze, etc. that he had in the "colors" palette. Where do I get those?
