Then I try.. I have made the square, done the gradient, I click Effect > Texture and all the options, including grain, is grey and I can't click any of them.. ._. I am running Mac OS X Leopard and illustrator CS. I know the age, but it's what I have to work with. So.. Help... Please... I can't for the life of me find the fix to this and I have looked far and wide. Odds are it's a simple option that needs to be checked and it will all work wonderfully.
