BREAKING NEWS UPDATE: Corel Painter is Announced : My First Impressions
corel-11-boxA little bit ago, I sat with a couple of people from Corel to take a look at the latest iteration of Corel Painter – Corel Painter 11. I’m happy to say that today is the official launch day of Painter 11, where you can download it from the Corel site or pre-order a boxed copy. Now, I am not a traditional artist by any means. I -am- however a photographer and graphic artist, and very curious about how to take what I do, and offer something different to my clients. I really think Painter can do something like that. At the end of the meeting, I felt their message clear. They really are set to change what’s possible in Art.

I’ve got 2 more videos, and a great review from Tami Fry Pietsch, so make sure you click on the read more link below to get to them!

Painter 11 is something that can work for people across the creative spectrum. From graphic designers to photographers, it definitely has something in there for everyone. Not being a traditional artist, I’ve always been hesitant of jumping in and giving it a shot, so for me, I thought it was really cool that I could do all of this electronically. Shaking their heads, the folks at Corel just said, “All of these tools just work like they are supposed to in the Art world.”

Here’s a video below of one of the things that I thought was cool – their Real brushes and how they “just work”. What I thought was cool. Drawing on the canvas normally, versus the tilt of the pen. Keep your eye on that brush:

One of the things that Corel touted as being improved on the software was the redesign of the Colors palette. You now have the option to be able to expand and resize the color palette:

These are just a couple of my favorite things off the bat with the new Corel Painter 11. Make sure you take a look at our resident Corel Painter genius Tami Fry Pietsch’s review of Corel Painter 11 listed below for more information on this exciting new piece of software. Over the next couple of months, I definitely see myself adding this to my portfolio of things I can offer a client… and as I do – I’ll be sure to show you here just how I did it.

I am still new to Painter but when you combine it with Photoshop and a Wacom tablet there are no limits to what you can do, they are my weapons of choice when it comes to Art.

So… in the first video we got as far as the splash screen?!
Yes, but who shows off artists’ work in their software like this?
    Are you listening Adobe?
Painter is amazing. I had a personal demo at IUSA in Phoenix – truly astonishing what can be done.
I can’t wait to get my hands on it.

Is it just the video here or me, but from the first clip the brushes seem to move incredibly slow?

It would bother me to no end if the response time was THAT slow.
