Good morning everyone! Today we can take a look at a couple of cool things, as well as a math confession on my part.

Starting Video Reviews
This I thought was pretty cool – recently we were asked to add some quick video reviews on things we think are really cool. Figure we could give you a 2 minute overview of things that interest us out there – so let us know what you think of that! Check out my latest one talking about the Canon HF10 at this link here.

My Math Confession
I’m bad at Math. I mean, I went to school to become an English teacher, so I avoided Math at all costs. I thank the tech gods every day for the fact that there is a calculator on my phone. Ok, well it’s not -that- bad.. but I just don’t get into it.

Well, I don’t get into it when it comes to measurements and handiwork. For the longest time, I had this saying in college. I used to say “Hey.. this is why I am in school.. if I can’t move something with a mouse.. I’m not moving it”

Fast forward X many years and using a tape measure on a wall usually results in making my wall Swiss cheese. So, what do you do when you need to hang pictures in your office, and you’re a dork? Use Photoshop! (I can’t believe I’m even showing you this.. this is so lame):

Ok.. I’m embarrassed enough.. got to go. More tomorrow.

And if you have gotten this far, sure to tell me that the math was wrong.. at least you were paying attention.. see. It isnt 81, but 108.

At least one of you was paying attention.. :)

Hey, I personally like the idea. I think it would be great when you have frames of different size to get a decent layout. I used to lay all the frames on the ground and try to work it out. (and I did chuckle after the math comments and then you said 9 feet was 81 inches – I thought you were just affirming your prior statements).

And I have used PS for picking the exterior house color – cos let’s face it, you don’t want to make a boo-boo there – it’s expensive! Honestly that would be a good tutorial for the Elements crowd as well. Give Martha Stewart a run for her money.

I think your approach is brilliant. I have a wall I have been dreading to decorate because it is not easily accessible and I have several prints of differing sizes that I want to hang. Using PS will make the job so much easier.

Reading this post + comments really makes me happy I’m using the Metric system :) Not having to convert between inches and feet sure saves some frustration, the math part is still as difficult though =)

Some tips for picking colors using Photoshop would actually be a good idea. I mean it’s sure easy to do, but there are probably a lot of things which can make that process so much easier/give better results. So if you’re out of ideas for new tips at least think about it ;)

LOL! “See? It’s not math when you’re playing with blocks!”

If I had been drinking coffee when I heard that, it would’ve shot straight out my nose! :D

R.C., this was completely priceless! I love it, and must show my husband (he would tell me to do the Photoshop and he’d do the hanging). I enjoyed just watching your work flow on this interesting project. :-)

    RC,

This is brilliant! I would have never thought of it. And you are right “It’s not math when you are playing with blocks.”
