Hey everyone! Let’s go ahead and make up for the light post today, shall we? Good..

So, it’s sad for me to say, but I finished my two day classes over at The Eventspace at B&H. I have to send a special thanks to the guys (and Jen!) for having me out there to spend time with our current and new NAPP members. It really was great to be able to meet all of you and share some cool creative goodness. It’s a shame that I’m heading home. Sunday, the Event Space has Joyce Tenneson giving a talk… argh! If I could only change my flight. Be sure to go out there and check them out if you want to see an amazing photographer at work.
The School of Visual Arts & Katrin Eismann
After I was finished teaching, I found myself wanting to switch roles and be a student for a little bit, so I did some walking. A couple of blocks later, I met up with Laura and Katrin Eismann over at the School of Visual Arts.
Katrin chairs the SVA’s Master of Professional Studies in Digital Photography, and I got to take a tour of their facilities and check out where all of this magic happens. SVA is an amazing institution, and the only thing that would keep me from actually hanging out there and taking the program is the fact that I moved to Florida. Period. To learn from Katrin would be amazing. Nuff said!
I will leave you with this though. If you want to catch some Katrin online, make sure you get out there to the Kelby Training website. She has a class called Black and White Artistry. Thank you for the warm welcome. I’ll definitely be reporting from SVA next time that I am out there.
Adorama Hosts Joe McNally
I didn’t hang out at SVA too long though – I was on a mission to get to Adorama!

Adorama has got a training space among their immense facilities, and on this night, they had the incomparable Joe McNally giving a presentation, and teaching a little bit about small flash systems. While Joe is also available on the Kelby Training website doing classes, it is always a treat to get out there and see him do his thing live. Adorama was packed, and put on a great show way extending themselves past the curfew to make sure that everyone got the maximum amount of the presentation.
My hat’s off to Adorama seminar group. Next time I’m in town I’m keeping their schedule really close by. Make sure you do as well. Thanks for the warm welcome, guys! I still can’t believe I missed Lou Manna demonstrating digital food photography. Scott went.. check out what he had to say about it on his blog.
If you click on the jump, I have a Flickr slideshow of the Adorama talk with Joe, a cool tutorial on animating blurs with Flash, and the Layers Blog Contest winner.
Flickr Gallery of Joe at Adorama
Check out the gallery of snapshots of Joe teaching at Adorama. Yes, I know they are noisy and a little blurry.. low light.. no tripod.. you know the deal.
Animated Blurs in Flash
Check out this really cool tutorial from Lee Brimelow on creating animated zoom blurs. Much thanks to Lee for the Flash content here.
