Recently, I was working on a ad that was also going to be made into a poster. My client’s poster printing company required that all type be Outlined (Command-Shift-O on a Mac, Control-Shift-O on a PC), which turns the type into vector objects. But when I Outlined the type, the text and Text Frame of an object that I Anchored into my type totally vanished. Hmm! Is there a way to Outline text in a Anchored Text Frame?

Yes! But only if you tackle the task in the right order. Select the Anchored Text Frame and Outline it’s text first. The text in the Anchored Frame will not disappear and outlines perfectly. If your Anchored Object had a Wrap, you may need to reapply it. Then select the larger Text Frame into which this outlined text is Anchored. Use your Outline Type command and all your text is outlined with no disappearing act.
